The following day we decided to hike into the backcountry of the Grand Tetons. We saw some of the most spectacular mountain scenes we could have imagined! The steepness of those mountains was awe inspiring. As the glaciers high up on the mountain slopes melted they sent a cascade of water down the slope 7,000 feet to the river at our feet. We saw a cow (female moose) and her calf browsing in one of the mountain ponds, but that was it for wildlife that day. Once we returned to the cars, we once again traveled north, this time to the iconic Yellowstone National Park.
We are headed to Alaska and back, taking our time along the way. We intend to see the best America and Canada have to offer in the way of natural beauty while living out of our Jeep. Our goals for this trip are simple: Grow closer together, grow closer to God, and see and experience all that we can.

Blame it on the Tetons
The first day of traveling left us tired and a little grumpy. However, after a restless night of sleep in our Jeep turned Camper, we felt ready to tackle the adventures of the day. We awoke at six and ate a quick breakfast. The road from ice slough (our campsite) to the Tetons took much longer than we anticipated and we arrived at 10:15. We met the Turpaud family at their campsite and went for a hike. We swam, we walked, we saw bears, and then the sky opened up and drenched us. Five drowned rats sloshing to the car grinning from ear to ear and smelling like wet pine; a picture of pure bliss!
